当在Windows 2003 R2上尝试安装VirtualCenter (VC) 2.5 Update 3时遇到以下错误：

“Warning 25098. Setup has detected that the VirtualCenter Service is not running on this system. Please wait for the service to start and then try installing VMware Update Manager and/or VMware converter again.” （警告25098，安装程序没有在该系统上检测到运行的VirtualCenter服务。请等待该服务启动后，再尝试安装VMware的更新管理器和/或VMware的转换器。）

使用SQL Native Client检查了ODBC与远程SQL 2005服务器的连接情况，删除了Update Manager或VMware Converter并重新安装还是同样的问题。最后找到的原因是远程SQL 2005数据库设置了使用Windows NT验证，把它改为SQL验证后安装成功！

查看了一下VirtualCenter 2.5 Update 3 Release Notes，并没有提及任何必要的数据库身份验证。最后在VI3.5 VC 2.5 Quick Start Guide的第25页上发现了不起眼的这一行：“Microsoft Windows NT authentication is not supported with SQL Server”。
